DREV Secures €2.8 Million to Enhance Battery Metal Recovery

  • DREV, a Swedish startup focused on contamination control in the battery sector, has successfully closed a €2.8 million Seed funding round. The financing is aimed at advancing the engineering and product development of its innovative Vault product line, which is designed to capture and recycle critical metals from the byproducts of battery production, often referred to as “black dust.” This funding round was co-led by Butterfly Ventures, reflecting growing investor interest in sustainable technologies that support the battery industry.
  • The need for effective metal recovery is becoming increasingly critical as Europe intensifies compliance regulations for gigafactories. These manufacturing plants, which produce large quantities of batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage, are under pressure to minimize waste and enhance sustainability practices. DREV’s advanced solutions aim to address these challenges by transforming waste materials into reusable resources, thus contributing to a circular economy in the battery sector.
  • DREV’s co-founder emphasized the importance of their technology in a statement, noting that the company is committed to leading the charge in sustainable battery production. With the new funding, DREV plans to accelerate the development of its systems and expand its market reach, ultimately aiming to play a pivotal role in the European battery landscape.
